Just bought some Middle White gilts from a gent in Midleton, Cork - a beautiful place well worth a visit. They are the most friendly, talkative little pigs i've ever come across. I can't understand why they are so rare when you consider you can finish them for fantastic pork in as little as 16 to 18 weeks.

How much did you pay for them and are you intending on breeding. I think i know the people, Do they also breed large blacks.

I think the fact that they are not a large pig turns people off them. They are handsome pigs they just sit there playing with their tongues.you could watch them all day

We did a bit of stock swapping so i can't really put a figure on it  - if you're interested in getting into them I will pm his contact details.
They are quite small but early maturing. I'm told that if you allow them to go much over 80kg they will convert their ration almost entirely to fat and the more you feed them the more they will need as apparently they are one of the few breeds that do not benefit from being checked. Which i'm beginning to understand from the few days i've had them - constantly hungry, they let out screams of disparagement if you dare pass them without throwing in some titbit. Very hard to ignore.
