I have been fortunate in the past year to come by some La bresse Gauloise hatching eggs. and have since succssefully hatched out two seperate unrelated batches, giving me a total of 50 or so birds, both batches produced 100% hatchrate! Excellent result coming from postal eggs....could be just good luck? or good management on the senders behalf and mine too....who knows? One thing that I would note is that how fertile these birds must be!
We have sold a few and are eating the cockerals at 16 weeks of age, and weigh in at approximately 5lb free range, the pullets are also laying at 16 weeks and produce a good sized egg probably around the 75 to 85 gram mark when they have gotten over the first flush of irregular first laying period of soft shells and odd sizes, we have enjoyed many double yokers in the past months, however today I experienced my first ever Triple yoked egg, luckily it was poached on hot buttered toast. I wonder if anyone has ever had four or more?

Thanks for that Gilly, I thought I was lucky too It was unbelievable seeing the three perfectly formed yokes in the 1 egg white. Double yokers just wont seem the same anymore. Just wish I had taken a photo. Very Happy
