A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. But why they asked, as they moved off. ‘Because,’ he said, ‘I can’t stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer.’

Depends on the variety , methinks .
You could eat a ton and a half of the type which are sold for culinary purposes -- often used to garnish bread rolls -- and get a strange sensation from acute indigestion but not opiate .
The true opium poppies certainly grow in the South uk and can often be seen in flower borders -- big flowers and round rather than oval seed heads . The opiate is in the sap extracted by cutting the seed head rather than in the seeds themselves . For this reason it is perfectly legal to sell/buy the seed but as soon as you start to process anything by cutting or drying you can be done for possession of a class A drug .
Same for cannabis seed ( which becomes class B now , I think ).
And wild Psylisibin ( can't spell it -- Magic shrooms ) which are in many grass-fields . If you are a farmer then you may pick in order to dispose but put it on the range and you are potentially in big trouble . Put them into tea and you may be in for even more !! Not that I have ever tried them , of course .
Seriously ! |

| Many years ago I used to chef at a middle of the range golf club in the B,ham area,we had a young commi chef who was forever boasting about the amount of cannabis he smoked.Just to test him I told him I had some in my room but it would cost him a tenner,he was mad for it and even had a sub on his wages to pay me.What I did was go into the dry stores, get an oxo cube and roll it about a bit and re-shape it,he payed me and of he went to roll a splif, when he came back he reckoned it was the best tenner he had ever spent,We never did tell him the truth and have often wondered what was in that oxo. |

Haha
The placebo effect is a wonderful thing . It accounts for the alleged success of many alternative remedies IMHO but that is a very sensitive subject around here so I will say no more .
Might go and buy some garnished bread rolls , tho' . |

the milky seeds from the local poppy made into a paste with finger will fix most tooth aches but not after they dry out
it works
