Just had a piglet about 4 months old rapidly lose appetite , go very lethargic and kind of cough a lot . Vet says it was a common viral condition known as the snuffles .  Can develop into phneumonia and kill within a couple of days . Precribed Amoxyllin . Best given by injection but , of course , the pig suddenly got a second lease of life when we tried to get hold of her so that couldn't be done . Am now trying to give it orally  , mixed in wet feed but ... catch 22 .... she is off her food so won't eat it !
Any advice much appreciated .

You could try to catch her early in the morning while they are asleep, sneak up quietly, best of luck.

I've heard of snuffles in rabbits but not in pigs. I've rang around and neither has a fellow whose been in pigs 40 years. I'm not suggesting your vet is mucking about but you should ask him what the clinical name for the 'snuffles' is.
Amoxylin is a penicillyn (molecule is Amoxicillin Trihydrate) and as such will not treat viral infections but is indicated for the treatment of general bacterial infections.
Unfortunately the humid weather at the moment suits pnuemonia (viral and bacterial) just fine but fortunately pigs, in otherwise good condition, can quickly develope an immune response that overcomes the viral type if they're kept warm, dry and out of draughts.
You will have to administer the injection as prescribed as absorption and efficacy will be drastically affected through the gut.

If you get a couple of sheets of ply or something similar and hinge them together against the side of the shed or whatever, you may be able to fence the pig in and crush her in so that you can do the injection - similar to a cattle crush.
