Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had some hatching eggs available now ?

because a broody started ... and quite fancy some new blood ...

any breeds or crosses will be considered as long as they are not bantams or the likes .. I like big birds !

would preferably collect them as I wouldn't trust An Post with them.

thanks,
Camile

Hi Phil,

that sounds like music to my ear to be honest ... preferably the speckled if possible .. or a mix of both will do me well ..

I'll give you a call tonight to see how you got on if it's not too pushy.

Thanks,
Camile

Good evening,

Thanks to Phil I got sorted with some eggs today ..

I ended up with some Barnevelders eggs ...
http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Barnev/BRKBarnev.html

although there eggs are not that brown at all ... and the colors not as good as the ones on the pictures (maybe the fact that they were kept indoors) .. .. they still are good birds I think.

Now having traveled for 1 hour or so in the car .. should I leave the eggs to settle before giving them to the broody hen ?

Thanks,
Camile

I would leave them over night and give them to the broody in the morning.

Thanks for the advices,

Loads of people said to wait for 24h .. and fewer said not to bother, so I did wait for 23h or so (to avoid having to go out again under the rain) ..

It's all down to the hen now .. but she is a proven broody so she will make me proud.

Camile
