A very small wet, soggy and bedragled puppy 'found' us about a month ago.  After making enquiries as to its owner, he had obviously been abandoned and we decided to keep him.

Now named Buster, he is very loving and doing really well after his shaky start.  He's been wormed, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

The vet (and us) think he is a beagle or beagle cross and everything we read about beagles seems to be negative, and true!  He is not house trained yet, in spite of our vigilance and taking him out at regular intervals.  He just weed on the kitchen floor again and I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

Any help out there?

I am not one to spare the strap! if a puppy is persistently doing wrong. Like wise love and shown affection is of equal importance. He will not want to upset you and needs to understand where he went wrong. You must be the leader of the pack or he will be, and you will suffer for it. A Stern word might be all that is needed but catch him in the act and plonk him out side. He will get the message providing you are the boss in his eyes. Good Luck.

mmmm....beagles.....!  Not a clever dog, really need to be in a pack.  But they are soppy & affectionate.  I know two people who've had them and they are hard work.  I agree with Wayland in that he will need to be shown who is boss, he needs guidance and training.
