Never mind a thread to enable blowins to understand some of the language and customs over here , we will soon need one to keep us up to date with what is going on over there !!!
In one short trip I managed to find out the hard way that you can't smoke anywhere on station or airport property ( even in the open air outside the entrance , where Big Brother on the cctv tells you to move on ! ) ; trains have "quiet" carriages where it is an offence to use anything like an mp3 or mobile phone , it can be cheaper to go half way round the country than direct to your destination , and people are generally feckin unfriendly . I am not saying it is all bad but I am certainly not going back any more often than I have to !  Laughing

Ah Bless. You are welcome HOME blowin. Well no wonder all the  bloody foreigners are moving over here, after all we are very friendly and our infrastructure is second to none.......... by that I mean none is first and we are second.

Did you have to show your passport or use an interpreter, after all your accent has probably gotten very Wesht and "they" wont be able to understand our cultured tones !

Here's hoping you don't have to go back "there" for a long while.

I got along with the language ok but they certainly don't appreciate the hill-farmers' style of attire  in the middle of london . I was feeling bloomin ill and wonky due to a bug but they would hardly give me the time of day , let alone directions , because they thought I was just another tramp .

On reflection they were probably right . They still took my money tho' . Laughing
