when are they going to ban FOG LIGHTS,  i've never been in a country where they feel  the need to light up the entire countryside.
you wouldnt mind so much if  it was actually foggy, but 99% of cars day or night feel the need to have their FOG lights on,  and when they come up behind you and you put your rear fog lights on (well it must be foggy) they get p****d off, whats it all about... am i the only one to wish that, the rear demister button was really an RPG, and while im on my rant remember drivers, that if you can see me then i can see you, turn the feckin full beem off......ok rant over....aghhhhhh

Ah the Native Irish and their fog lights. Like all the other shiny stuff the cause of this goes back to the 800 years of tyranny in Ireland. We weren’t allowed to have the nice or cool stuff, we were after all peasants who should have known our place. We always had to stay at least 50 years behind our betters in England, so we took to revolution using our pike staffs against their guns. We built their motorways while we had dirt tracks, yes the ones we still have. England had television in the 30s, we managed to set it up in the 60s and so it went on.
Before the Celtic Tiger we had the pleasure of driving about in the base model of any car produced. My first car, a VW Golf, was bought in the early 80s, brand new. I decided to go for an expensive optional extra, a door mirror. I couldn’t go for the rear wiper as it was too expensive. All the while The Native Irish had to watch as our heavily subsidised Northern Cousins drove through our towns in the very latest, high spec cars that we could only dream of.
Then The Celtic Tiger came to visit. Suddenly we had more than £5 a week to live on. So of course we bought new cars, the 20 year old Micras were sold to Nigerians and we got every extra that the EU could afford. Yes, the older drivers do have their fog lights on but, bless, it wasn’t so long ago that they didn’t even have electricity in their homes. Fog lights are essential for Irish roads, they are an early warning system that allows the one armed baseball cap, peeking over the top of the Honda Civic’s steering wheel, to see you as they career along our rural highways. While in towns they alert the prat in the Beemer to see you as he sends an email from his Blackberry.
When you bought your kids new toys with flashing light, did they not spend hours playing with them before eventually getting bored. Have a little patience, they will soon get bored and move on to something new.
While on the subject of traffic. What is with the way the AA Roadwatch girls pronounce “south bound from the red cow round about” and pronounce the word “right” as “rice”. I must pay a visit to Dub 4 to brush up on New Hiberno English.

So anyway, if we had not been invaded 800 years ago we would not, today, drive around with our fog lights on !

I still blame "The Normans".

How could they tell them apart if they were all called Norman?
