They do some culling every winter in Glenveigh National Park in Donegal and used to sell the venison to locals. It'd be worth a try.

The problem with culled venison is that the old and inferior are culled for the benefit of the heard . This does not lend itself to a good joint of meat. Far better go for farmed Venison me thinks. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Sorry to contradict wayland, but at least during the years my partner worked there (and culled) the policy was to cull across the board, so to speak.
I'd simply ring up the rangers and ask. Thought it was handy as ferretlady is up North anyway.

No problem Chook. My only experience is from the UK and on one particular estate. There was similar comments made by a celebrity chef a few weeks ago. Cant remember who it was though. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

No doubt you have already asked the local gun club .
I wonder if you have to approach the question in a particular way ? A bloke wanted to shoot on my land last year . I am sure he was totally legitimate , with the licence and everything . He said he was not permitted to sell the meat but would give me some for free .......... but it would be nice if I were to buy him a box of ammunition in return !! Any idea where I might find high-velocity rounds for a hunting rifle ? No -- don't answer that ! |

For the right to shoot on your land he should provide the odd meal free me thinks.
