In a nutshell ... meeting to found new clubs for Leitrim and Sligo, Thursday 21st June, 8pm, Gurteen, Co Sligo ... this is the press release I've sent to Leitrim Observer and Sligo Scene. Please feel free to copy paste forward to any friends family media.
Thanks everybody.

Beekeeping is an age old craft which in recent years has seen a massive increase in interest and popularity. People of all ages are attracted to the hobby, ranging from children (both boys and girls) to retired men and women. Hives are kept in both urban gardens and rural areas, across the country. Honey is only one of the benefits one can harvest, there's also pollen, royal jelly and beeswax, all with their own specific range of health giving values.

Counties Leitrim and Sligo are the only two counties that as yet do not have their own Federation of Irish Beekeeping clubs, but this is about to change. Whether you are a complete novice without bees, or a seasoned beekeeper, you are invited to attend a meeting on Thursday 21st June, 8pm at Ferntree Cottage, 5 minutes from Gurteen. There, a gathering of enthusiastic bee folk of all levels will gather, and form a new club for each of the counties Leitrim and Sligo. Please come along to support, meet like minded people, and participate in the formation of two very important clubs. Contact Sue Anthony on 087 7950204 for directions.

Here's a copy of an email which was sent to me by Sue Anthony :

"Hello,
Susan Anthony the Co-ordinator of the Sligo, Leitrim Beekeepers Association here. We were formed this summer and affiliated to the federation shortly afterwards. Most of our members are beginners, so we decided to have a one day training course, to get everyone up to speed before open days and the summer season.
We have decided to throw this training open to all our neighbouring clubs and I have attached a poster of the details . ( Note from Blowin -- I am not sure how to get the poster onto here so will do it separately ) .
The course will cover all aspects in beginning beekeeping, I will be giving the course, I am an experienced beekeeper with a commercial scale enterprise.
Please will you inform all your members about the above training day and ask them to give us a ring if they are interested in attending. ( Linda Cheetham at 094 905 3988 ) .
I will be in contact again later in the year to give you information on our full training program for the coming year, where all clubs and members are welcome to attend. "
