Hi all, I have been tinkering in the workshop and made up a serving platter with live edged timber, I am thinking of possibly selling them, any thoughts, good or bad? What would you be willing to pay? The wood is ash, and it is coated in food safe Danish oil.

Cheers

As a food and dirty manager, I'd be looking at how heavy it is and if the Danish oil would leave it's smell on the food I'd be serving on it, even if it's food grade.

Have you looked into food grade linseed oil as an alternative to conserve the wood ? We used that in school in woodwork class, but that was eons ago.

I like the simplicity of it, and the loveliness of the grain coming through.

I'd prefer to use olive oil on it.

Thanks for the inputs, very welcome. It is quite heavyish, as it is ash. The Danish oil shouldn't come through, but I have some food grade wax/oil combination especially made for chopping boards and wooden utensils. That would probably be better. I think Olive oil could go rancid after a while. But I will look into it. I have used food grade linseed oil myself, as you, eons ago at school woodworking classes when we made some salad servers. With linseed oil if I remember, it will stain as well as protect which I didn't want the staining.
Thanks again for the inputs, much appreciated
