I just wanted to give an update to the original post.

I was talking to a vet this morning about the Myxo-RHD Vaccine for Rabbits.

He said "Myxo vaccine ok for breeding rabbits lasts 12 months, no withdrawal issues, confers no protection to baby rabbits"

He is also going to sell it to me so I can administer it myself which will cut down a lot on costs. It's 30 euro per rabbit to bring one into a vet for the vaccine so i am expecting it to be much cheaper to buy the vaccine myself. I'll let you know Monday how much it costs me.

Good to see your vet is recommending the combined RHD & Myxo vaccine Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD) element of the vaccine is probably as important as the myxomatosis element as both diseases are now endemic in wild rabbits throughout Ireland.  Its a sneaky disease as you just find the rabbit dead with no warning and no characteristic symptoms besides, so all kinds of things get blamed, including the kids......

I did the research and asked for the combo  Myxo-RHD Vaccine, all he did was check if it was safe to give the parents of rabbits that would he consumed and order it in for me. I try to make the job as easy as possible for people when I need something. Most vets turned me away and wouldn't order it as they wanted the extra money to administer it themselves which is a shame I believe.

Hard to drive down my lane without seeing/hitting a rabbit.

Great for the birds of prey though. Have a resident buzzard and see a lot of red kites.

I'm gonna try smoking a couple of rabbits also. I enjoy cooking so I will be trying lots of methods

I tried this and it cost me a fortune in matches and pipe-cleaners.  I'm going back to my home-made herbal mixture.
