I've wanted a remote camera for ages but could never justify the cost. I've just taken a look on Amazon and see that quite a few of them are on offer at significant discount. Plenty for well under £100.
Search " game camera " .
I've now become mind-boggled by the range of choice and conflicting reviews and simply don't know which to go for. If anyone else is looking to buy one perhaps you could tell me which one you have selected and why.
Or if you already have one , what is good, bad or indifferent about it ?
Cheers

I have two Maplin ones and a Lidl one, The Maplin one has a lot more "stuff" I would never use, like video settings, time lapse etc, its a little clearer in the dark but to tell you the truth they are pretty much of a muchness, The Lidl one is easier to set up and both need setting up when you change the batteries, I get around 6 weeks out of a set of rechargeable batteries,
They are a very useful thing if you think you have a fox visiting, I have even seen two legged ones, the time stamp is great if you need to give the Gardaí a few photos.
I guess the lens on the cheaper ones may not be up to the quality of the more expensive ones but the Lidl one shows a reg plate at 30 metres in the dark and up to 50 metres in daylight

No bother, hope you get one. FYI in our shop they weren't out on the shelves so we thought they were sold out but when we asked an assistant she said they were in the store room and to just ask at the counter. Seems as bizarre way of selling them, but anyway don't be put off if you don't see them on the shelves

I got one yesterday in Gort. There were three or four left and they are in a locked display case so the cashier has to leave the till and go get the key which made me the most unpopular customer in the shop.
Now I'm looking for a degree course in UCG to learn how to use it.
There are going to be some smashing pics on here shortly.

Looking forward to seeing them. The setup is not as bad as it looks. Good luck.
