Hey guys. This evening I've been downloading forms for poultry and pig herd and flock numbers. I can't seem to find one for goats and I'm just wondering where would I get it?

Thanks

JJ

Just had a quick look on dafm website, cant seem to see one. We just rang our local district veterinary office to get ours. Good luck with all your form filling. They are usually very helpful

goats and sheep normally come under the same number, all my paperwork always refers to sheep and goats.

Agree with Monst. All the documentation that I receive from the Min of Ag refer to sheep. I think that its only been in the last couple of years that we have received specific goat census forms.

It's the same one they use for cattle & sheep - it's quite confusing as the whole form refers to cattle and asks questions that have no relevance to goats but that's definitely the one to use - I phoned the dept only last month about it!

Once I register all my animals and have them on the homestead will there be regular inspections? If so how often are they usually?

Most likely you will never have an inspection if you are not claiming SFP or  there's not a problem.
In that case you can have lots of inspections.

The main thing is keep your paperwork right, always use the proper forms when buying, selling and disposing of dead animals and make sure the Dept know of these movements by either sending the forms to them or using Agfood.

Make sure your animals are properly tagged, kept well fenced, keep the medicines record and herd register up to date, TB test when you should.

And enjoy.

Many people including myself get overwhelmed by all the paperwork and BS but I find if I keep it up to date regularly and not once every two years it's not too bad.
Agfood is also very useful.

Good luck.
