I am getting into this subject so please can any of you tell me what this is and can you eat it? It looks like loads of oysters sticking out from a tree stump. The underside is white.

Cheers Wink

Hi W,
Since it is around supper time I thought I'd better send a quick response to say that you cannot eat it . Well , you could try I suppose -- I don't think it is actually poisonous .
I recognise it but the name escapes me . It will take me a while to find my book and post my best guess at its i/d . You will still be chewing the first mouthfull , no matter how long I take ! Laughing Laughing
Sorry for the banter Wink , it is a valid question and the pic is very helpful . Anyone who is into collecting fungi should never be bashfull about asking so , any newcomers to the hobby , please do not let my slightly drole sense of humour put you off . You will see that even those who have been doing it for years can get into quite deep debates about identification and degrees of safety . It is worth it -- at least 2 quite common species will kill !

( I only just realised that you can click on the pic to make it full screen-sized. Now that is clever ! Laughing )
