Do you think that the seed could do with spending a couple of months in the fridge before planting?

I did think to try that next time I come by some but it never really gets cold where I come from, or atleast not for very long. But thinking about it I have never even seen seedlings growing under established vines. I do know that the cultivars are at least 60 years of development away from the wild so that might have something to do with it. I might try to get some cuttings from little bro. but I wont hold my breath on getting them any time soon _________________ The reward for a job well done is more work |

| Do I take it from a previous post that it is illegal to import cuttings ? Even if they are just sticks with no roots as yet ? |

It will require a licence from some countries, and be completely baned from others. It is all about spreading pests and deseases. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

I have just found an American nursery that will post to Ireland. It just has citrus and blue berries and SCUPPERNONGS postage will cost about 3 times what the plants cost but it will be worth it. Even if it never sets fruit just having it will be a pleasure. A real pretty vine, even without fruit
Now I just have to wait for hubby to get home with the magic plastic and order one. _________________ The reward for a job well done is more work |

My OH has here own. I must be too soft me thinks. You may well get a crop off your vine over here. In cool clime`s they are grown differently to the hotter regions. You need to prune the leaves so to expose the fruit to sun and wind. Making sure that the vine does not bleed to death of course. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Thanks for that, I had wondered what the best way to go about it was. I was thinking of maybe planting it in the Polly tunnel as it would certainly be hot enough for it but I wasnt sure if the ventilation would be sufficient to prevent mildew and fungus but they come from the land of hot and HUMID so it might word but perhaps hubby can be convinced (or perswaded ) to get a few so I can try them in several ways.
And if they do even reasonably well I will be takeing cuttings next year to spread around this lovely land.

I thought I was the only one who took cuttings wherever I went but I see you are all at it. Anyway it's good for the plants to take cuttings because it makes the plant grow bushier. Maybe you all won't feel so bad now.
