I have got this notion that it would be a good idea to start a herd? flock? whatever of Boar Goats for meat production. To get the best breeding stock I will probably have to import from the UK. Does any of you guys have any info on the importation proceedure. I am a big dummy with forms so please be lenient Crying or Very sad

thats a very enterprising venture, I'm sure it will do very very well. Have you seen the size of a boer billy! Massive, but beautiful creatures.

I read an ad in the farmers journal for a "Billy at stud". Boar that is. I could not fine the ad in later issues. I thought that it was from Co Cork. Goat meat has got popular in the UK scince the likes of Gordon Ramsey and H F W. So much so that demand way outstrips supply. There are about 1000 Boar goats in the UK apparently, and one butcher has requested 5000 to slaughter per year which is way beyond the UK flocks ability. A good project to get into me thinks. I just need to find some mountainous scrub land. Not a good idea to keep them on soft wet ground apparently.
