Hello Clacy76,
there are a huge number of reasons behind pigs coughing. Are there any other symptoms?
As for the mange. You can buy an injectable called Animec (contains Ivermectin) from your local co-op. It will treat a host of parasites including lungworm which could be the cause of the cough problem. |

| Yes dose them all. I think I 'd get the vet in to have a look at them to be on the safe side. |

Hello Clancy,
Can you put the pig under a heat lamp or on a pad or in a warm place? Also try to get some fluids into it - you can mix up some sugar syrup.
Check the bedding and feed - pigs are very suseptable to aflatoxin. That's produced by the black mold you see in damp straw and stale straights - I've seen it in barley bought from the co-op! |

| hello dara, thanks for all your advice ,the wee pig it seems has a reaction to its feed(nuts) as iwas away for a while and my partner was looking after it,feeding it just fruit and veg when i came back i gave it the nuts again, it swelled up around the belly and was lying down alot pretty inactive, and i cant believe this another young one now whos skin has turned all pink it has like black mould all over it with red sores i just changing the bedding (straw) and put in new wood shavings. are vet is off sick and looking like he wont be back, not having much luck this year. |

Again you'd better get the vet in. Are there any other symptoms? The skin thing could be down to a few things. One is greasy pig syndrome which is caused by a bacteria which gets into the tissues through cuts and even mange. Another is PDNS - which is like dermatitis and like the human type no one knows what causes it.
