Does anyone have a particular use for some largish ( 15" diameter ) trunks of holly ? If it is just for firewood I am afraid I will use it for that myself but I seem to remember reading that it is sought after for wood turning .
The tree is still standing but will have to come down very soon so pls let me know asap .
I know it is a shame to fell holly Crying or Very sad. I will plant a stand of native crab apple and bullace ( wild plum ) trees in its place Very Happy

The trunk is fine for wood working and the side shoots make the best walking sticks. They will last a life Very Happy It would be a great shame to just burn it.

why don't you contact a local woodturner and ask them if they want to barter for it - give you things in return. Then you have next year's christmas presents sorted in advance.....

The tree is finally down Crying or Very sad . There is a trunk about 15" reducing to 9" diameter , 10 ft long , a couple of large logs @ 15" dia x 3 ft long , and a huge amount of tangled branch and spikey leaves .
I am happy to stack and season the big bits but do not have any particular use for them myself . I could not bring myself to log and burn it unless i was desperate so .... is it of interest to anyone else ? .
