See you Saturday ! |
I'm taking care of that then ...
will 1kg of rolling tobacco, 2 boxes of tea and some home made cake do the trick ?
any preferences for the cake .. there will be a birthday cake too because it's Jemima's birthday (Calli's daughter) ..
will see you all on saturday then ...

There'll be cake? You should have said!
I was hoping to be able to come down and help but seem to have talked myself into doing a ten-page translation for a friend of a friend in Germany (these are the kinds of things that end up happening to me when I go on holidays!). It sounds like you have more than enough help lined up. Will be sorry to miss meeting everyone. _________________ http://livingthesimplelifeiwant.blogspot.com |

We have reluctantly accepted Camile's resignation as Social Secretary ..... but I think he might be up for a bit of after dinner speaking if the fee is right .
A big vote of thanks for all his efforts ( if anyone can remember what they actually were ) and especially to his OH for that fantastic catering ( if anyone can remember what they had had by the end of the evening ) ! .
No need to have a whip-round for a gold watch or anything because a few forum members got together and gave him a polytunnel to keep him amused in his retirement .
So , you see , that really is a very nice and rewarding job to have .
Who would like it next
Well , they put the tunnel up rather than paid for it but that is close enough . And that last statement is a tad misleading too so if no volunteers are forthcoming we will have to revert to the traditional method of recruitment --- the newest member gets it by default .
For the benefit of the unsuspecting Gardener , I think it is , you can get out of this in a limited number of ways :-
1/ Make up a very original excuse . You might have trouble with this because I think Camile used them all up before we finally nailed him .
2/ Recruit a new member to the forum . It would be adviseable not to let him/her know your motivation in advance , in case they run off .
3/ Completely ignore everything that has just been said . That works too ! _________________ we need more people to say something . |

thanks again everyone one for helping us with the venture of putting the cover on the tunnel ..
it's definitely tricky if you want to make a real good job out of it and would have never managed to do it on my own ..
so thanks again to Blowin, Wayland and OH, Phil, Calli with Pheasant plucker and girls, and Meli melo for the wonderfull day we had ..
I'm now going to enjoy the fruits of your hard labour for years to come .
AS for the social secretary, I had to resign due to health problems, but it's a wonderfull job and so gratefull from countrytalkandtips for the brilliant present of the polytunnel ..
because you may say it Admin, it was given to me because this forum as so much to offer you wouldn't believe it ..
Next present for taking up the social sec job is a 1996 Defender in perfect working order registerred in Co. Sligo ..

Inventive excuses again ! A hangover isn't really a "health problem" !
And that Landrover is too full of junk to be of much use to anyone .
I see we have an even newer new member . Nice work , Gardener , you certainly catch on quickly ! |

Hi Melimelo. Thanks for putting these pics up for us, and putting up My lady and myself up for Le weekend. It is a pity that there is not a piccy of me there but someone had to hold the camera . This was a great weekend and not just because of the Poly Tunnel. It was nice to see all you guys socialising and working together just because we wanted to do it. I am sure that this will carry on in other members locations if help were needed. A barn roof for example!
Thanks again Melimelo <the best-est chocolate tart in the world>.

... the pleasure was for us !! Thanks to all of you guys who came down especially to help us !! You've saved us a lot of arguments, and I can't imagine having done it on our own, so putting you up and catering for the event was the very least we could do !!
Hope we can return the favour soon !!
Cheers
Mel
