This is not a rant really, more of an update. We are going to be refused yet again permission to build on the field. So will probably have to give it up but!!! There is another one up the road Its just a case of trying to keep my OH sane while we go through the process.

Very sorry to hear that .
I don't suppose there's any way anyone else can help -- like give a character reference or something ? I think you'd stand a better chance if you could say you were an Official Social Secretary .
Sorry ! |

Good luck with your planning Roiphil. We are going to use Kingspan but the planners did not like the look of the "Burton". They said it didnot look rural enough. Whatever that means. So we are going to have a very plain looking Bungalow. With all the twists and turns of the planning process we still may have a chance to build on the field. It all now rests on the seller getting rule 47 lifted so he can sell the site. I will know tomorrow so fingers crossed. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Well!!! We gave up with the whole idea of self build mores the pity. We just had enough of the whole process let alone the cost of the rent which is dead money of course. Sites are also getting smaller in the SE and as the land is very important to us it has become impossible here. So moving on we have brought a bungalow for renovation with a paddock which is great. The location is ideal as it is just five miles from the SE coast with decent weather and good fishing. It is a shame we had to give up on the build. If the planners were more approachable then the whole process could be made less painful. The county plans now have to be re written on account of the fact that to designate areas for local use only is against EU law. One of the reasons I was refused was because I was not a local. A can of worms. I am glade I am out of it.
Good luck with your build project Roiphil. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Good morning,
Congrats again Wayland & OH for the move ... just on time for the tree roots to take !
I think we've been lucky because we had asked once for a planning permission and got approved straight on ...
mind you it was for an extension so might be easier ... but it was physically impossible to do (the architect was a muppet)
At the hand the OH drew some plans for a 40sq metre extension (doesn't require permission) ... got it approved by another architect .. and it's a timber frame and almost finished now ..
We found a good local contractor and happy days ,,,, I'm trying to do as much as I can myself ...
Kept the costs down a fair bit ..
Good luck guys,
Camile
