I've heard that the ploughing chamionships can be good fun - not sure where they're on at the moment.

Tullamore can be a good place to meet as it's (a bit) central.

I thought of that but as yet have not found the location this year. It is usually sept/oct. It is a good day out and would make the ideal place to meet but be prepared for traffic bedlam.

I have been to the tullamore show and it is excellent

Tullamore or the ploughing are good shows. Large crowds and plenty of mud. We must get to them early though. How about statley homes and gardens as a venue?

Thats a though, many have picnic areas aswell.

Portumna castle and forest a forestry area with walks and picnic areas, its free entry sometimes. The castle itself (entry fee) is being restored but it has a lovely kitchen garden to explore.

Fota wildlife park also has fota house in the grounds, again with a lovely walled, and if memory serves a kitchen garden.

Ardgillan castle is skerries, Co. Dublin is a good day out aswell, and free, especially if you have small children with you as the playground is great. Very busy though at weekends in the good weather.

Birr castle also has lovely grounds, walled gardens and the telescope

Hmmm , even Spellcheck doesn't recognise that word on this forum !! Laughing

I know we had some really good feedback re: where to find out about the various shows etc but have to admit that I haven't studied it .
Perhaps if someone could just shortlist those coming up within the next month ??
Nice one Very Happy
