...I was in the middle of writing this and it ran away, so if double posted sorry.
so, the meet that we have not yet had and the practicalities of the organiser living in Tasmania (only in Ireland ).
How about we have a revolving organiser, say if an event is on near your area that you think is relevant then you organise a meet around it. Or if you need a few extra hands for a day or so then ask everyone around to help out. The next event would then be organised by someone else, so no one person would be "lumbered" with all the work.
Im sure that this is almost repeating what wayoutwest said (who I think would be a great soc sec, and now I am ducking to avoid the dog turd been thrown at me).
I realise that many may be nervous about inviting total strangers to their home, and that is right, so what about a neutral event of some sort first. Easter is coming up, will that bring the start of any ploughing or agricultural shows, or even food/craft exibitions. I think pick an event and open invitation for all...like a giant blind date

I think this is a great idea Tringle. As you say we could organise meet ups in our own areas before we meet at our own homes. Cool _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Sort of double posting this link but here is the dates for al the shows
http://www.irishshowsassociation.ie/showDates.asp
The earliest one seems to be the kingdom country fair on 14th May. Im not sure about that one being easy for many to get to, has anyone been to it before is it any good. I do know that the Tullamore show is a very good show to visit if anyone is interested in meeting up then.
Have a look at the list and let us know who in tends attending what, or waht is easy for you to get to and we will see if we can organise ourselves to get togehter. _________________ www.freewebs.com/paisti Knitwear for Children |

Ive just checked the RDS
http://www.rds.ie/home/index.aspx
and they dont seem to have anything relevant coming up soon. But here is some long term planning, what about the horse show in August. I have always found it to be good fun and a great place to find new crafts and suppliers and new thinking. I know it is in Dublin but it is very easy to get to by car, bus or train for anyone.
Any thoughts _________________ www.freewebs.com/paisti Knitwear for Children |

Like you say Tringle. Not much going on at the moment. We want to do as many shows as possible this year so thanks for the links. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Hello,
Are these shows any good ?
I checked that website but couldn't any informations about what goes on in these shows.
Is there poultry, goats and the likes exhibitions ? traditional skills and so on ?
Also, Tringle, you would make a proper social secretary !

I've heard that the ploughing chamionships can be good fun - not sure where they're on at the moment.
Tullamore can be a good place to meet as it's (a bit) central. _________________ http://livingthesimplelifeiwant.blogspot.com |

If you go to the championships link then click on or scroll down each one at the bottom is a list of each show that this competition will be held at.
Plenty of animal categories but not as much crafts and foos skills. However I do know each show has more stiuff aswell so worth calling the organiser.
