There seem to be a fair number of variations in the start / end dates for the fishing season , depending on the waters in question . Salmon & sea trout are the most obvious . Is there any closed season for brown trout ?
You need a state licence to fish for sea trout even out in the open sea !
There is a bag limit and a closed season on sea Bass .
If you are offered a lobster which has a "V" notched out of its tail it is illegal to kill it ( I think ! ) .
And there is a max weight limit on the pike you can take.
Some very good stretches of salmon river are "free" , ie you don't need a permit in addition to your state licence . Do you know where they are ? Or what method(s) are permitted ?
Can you cast a fly and are you patient beyond belief ? I ask that because I can't and I am not and I would dearly like some lessons .
Anyway , I thought that if everyone would like to put in their tuppenceworth we might persuade Admin to sort it into a useful reference guide at a later date .
Don't forget links to useful sites , too
