Hi I was in and around Kinsale yesterday and the Mullet was everywhere in the inlet to the harbour. These are not that regarded as a table fish but they are very good eating. Light tackle from a rocky mark with bread flake as bait. A large float is required so as to aid casting. a bubble float would be ideal as it can be half filled with water to give it a bit of weight. A very nice place to live Kinsale. Good luck with your project. _________________ Leave not a trace. |

Hi Eilis , Please accept my apols for not responding sooner .
Unfortunately I don't know the area around Kinsale but foraging is a bit of a hobby of mine . Unfortunately the yields wouldn't support a viable industry , tho' -- unless the foraging itself was the attraction --- guided field trip sort of thing . That has become quite popular in the uk , where I think it is normally focused on edible wild fugi . I am sure it would be feasible to run a sea-shore foraging & fishing course most places along a coastline as interesting as this if it is anything like Sligo / Mayo
Anyway , I will put posts under this section as and when anything interesting comes up and meanwhile would be very happy to help in any way I can .
Good luck
