Funnily enough the topic came up in discussion on NW radio this afternoon . Nothing to do with you , was it ?
The answer was that you should wear socks in the USA but not when in the ROI .
Particularly white ones .
If you are remotely concerned about fashion , that is .

only on a beach in spain with a pair of speedos on  (typicaly english tourist style) and not forgetting the hanky knotted on each corner

How about those marvallous treking sandles?. Great for walking on hot sunny days. But then you discover knettles, sunburn. My point is that there are some occasions when S & S are exceptable. My OH says never, never, never and refuses to walk with me if I do

We were in Milan last month where everyone tries to out-do each other to be more fashionable.
I took great delight in wearing white socks with my sandals. In fact, I wore them with pride. What does it matter ffs?

Good Man Yerself ........... maybe we can get a support group going . A bit of string to hold up me old jeans would be a start but it would suit me a lot better to have a few friends rally round to tell my missus that those old jeans really are ok to wear for a night out at the chippie .
I quite like those starched white pyjama tops , too . It is a pity that the sleeves only seem to wrap around the back .
