Turkey or GooseSo what's it to be for this Christmas.
Will it be the traditional Turkey and Ham or Goose and Corned Beef or a take away from McDonnells ?

Hello,
That will be a home grown goose for us ...
and we are trying to to the neck sausage lick Hugh has done in the River cottage series.
Mouth watering just to think about it.
What will yours be ?

We are going to have my traditional family staple for Christmas eve: sausages (org. lamb in this case) with potato salad.
Christmas Day will be our own kidmeat (leg roast) and Stephens Day one of our cockerels. There's only 2 of us and a guest on Stephen's Day so a goose or turkey would be overkill.
Le gach dea-ghui i gcomhair na nollag agus na h-ath bhliana!

Sounds fantastic . but what does the last line of your text mean in english ( or similar ) ? Presumably it can't be a recipe for the gravy because I guest it might have meant 3/2/1 : flour / eggs / butter .................but that turned out to be truly horrible in any language !
NB : I really wished I could learn the Irish but the phonetics are very difficult for me . Could you please put up a few clues on the "Translation" section ? Nice one . Thanks

I couldn't get vegetarian turkeys anywhere this year so I can't comment .
Had turkey from Surlis Supvalue 1/2 price offer (** embarrassed icon thingy **) . Very nice .Not like last year's home reared but still good quality , flavour and value for money --- I am almost sorry to say !

If you are what you eat, all turkeys should be vegetarian.

It means "With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year!"
Hope you all had a nice one.

We had a beautiful goose all the way from Lidl.... it was excellent. It did four of us for two dinners plus scraps for the dogs.
So I see the Goose got the top vote but I have to add that Chook's menu for the three days sounds great.
