the wild harvest beginsi have started picking blackberrys to day and allready have 2 1/2 lbs in the freezer with lots more headgerows to go.
tomorrow i will start on the rose hips yo make syrup and jelly and later in the week its the turn of the crab apples which will go to jelly on there own and with each of the other two .
any one else picking wild fruit at the muinute?

It's a disappointing year for Blackberries here in Clare. They are past their prime now and not really worth picking. We used to say that the Pooka was in them after the rain (I know, it's the larva of the fruit fly).
A Chinese visitor asked me once what was the name for the black berries that the people let fall off the bushes. One person's weed is another's delicacy.
We have sea spinach nearly all year round here - better in the spring, of course.
