Should be showing some tassels by now; have you tapped them to aid pollination, planted in a block, and left plenty of openings to allow pollinating insects in?

Good bunches of tassels from about 10 days ago but none are showing any of the obvious signs of having been pollinated ( wilting & browning --- I think ! ) . This despite there being loads of pollen stuck to the leaves of the plants . Even tapped the male flowers with a container beneath then tipped flower heads , pollen and all onto the tassels . That was a week ago . I had expected something to happen by now .
Presumably " baby" corn does need to be pollinated before eating ???
Incidentally , the cobs might be baby size but there aren't many of them and the plants are over 7 ft , so not exactly a space-saving crop !
