Suspended gardens of babylonHi,
I can't remember where I read that tip about putting the strawberries in gutters, on the crop bars in the tunnel .... that could be years ago by now ..
the idea behind is that the strawberries will be hanging down instead of crawling on the ground ... so you could then put a gutter with just soil beside it ... and guide the shoots there so you end up propagating them easily .. just cut them from the mother plant when well established !
and of course the fruits are well away from slugs and all ... and it uses some "untouched" space otherwise .... and does save a lot of ground space ....
we have 30 odd plants in there, and it's like there were none ...
well let me tell you that so far it does the job perfectly .. I have dozens of big green strawberries hanging down the gutters ...
would anyone has any other tips in that range ? growing suspended things ?
I'm trying some suspended tomatoes too ...
