St George's Mushroom

Edible and good tho' not to be eaten raw .
Just found my first ones over here .
Not much danger of confusion with other species ( unless you are really careless ) because these are the only ones which look similar to a Field mushroom and are out at this time of year ( @ St George's day ).  Having said that the Destroying Angel can come early and can look a bit like St Georges with its slightly misshapen cap . If you do eat those you will very definitely die so please be sure to go thru all of the usual diagnostics .
It has a distinctive meally smell and dense texture . Very nice fried in a little oil + knob of butter , seasoned with salt and pepper .  I will have these for brekkie tomorrow  Wink .
If I never post again you can assume that I was stupid enough to mistake their identity  Shocked  Laughing
