spammers and other undesireables please noteSad to say we appear to have picked up several very suspect " members " , judging by their declared interests ( see personal profiles ) . We really don't want any trash on here so I will apologise in advance if their intentions are sincere but I am going to block them from the forum as soon as I can .
I refer specifically to the 4 new members from the USA .
I am not writing their names here , or giving them the courtesy of a pm because I think that triggers torrents of spam ( or am I just being paranoid ? ) .
If any genuine members object to this course of action , please feel free to say so , particularly if you can offer a more amicable solution .

Sad to here this but if thats wht is needed then get rid. You might want to take into account the yanky humour is not like ours.

Hmm , it may be that I over-reacted and now owe someone an apology - - there have been no offensive posts as yet and it is really none of my business what their personal interests are . If you ( the apparent spammers ) are bona fide then please accept my apology and introduce yourselves

So -- another one has just joined  .
I'll give the benefit of the doubt and leave everything alone for now but I strongly suspect that these so-called members are neither individuals or friendly . If any tekkies out there have a view perhaps you could pm Admin ? Or the USA guys could show their faces , as it were ?
I think I am right in saying that if you click on / go into the websites on those personal profiles there is a strong chance that your email i/d will be added to the address lists of numerous spammers . Y
Preferably don't even type their product names on this forum .

EDITED BY ADMIN : - That was definitely a mistake for me to put a product name in print , even in jumbled form . The firewall fairy has just blocked a quite clever attempt to get spam onto this forum . My personal email has also rejected spam from a source I have had to block before . It happens to have the same i/d as one of the so-called members we were discussing earlier .
From now on I am going to block suspicious new members without delay .

I see what you mean. Why not play it safe and delete them. If you are being unjust let them ask the reason why.

Sounds like a plan !
I just wanted to be sure that this wouldn't upset any of of our bona fide members . No doubt you have seen some of the tirades about freedom of speech etc when this sort of thing has come up on other sites .
Admin will take it as agreed that debates about civil liberties are not a significant element of our own forum --- unless they relate to issues in Ireland , of course
FINAL NOTICE TO THOSE ( 4 ) RECENT MEMBERS FROM " USA " -- sorry but all links will be blocked at midday tomorrow unless you make yourselves known .
