SloeWith the current run of good weather, it has been possible to look up without getting an eye full of rain!
A bit disapointed then to see for the second year, virtually no Sloes on my Blackthorn. I can only count 2 on several trees.(2 more than last year) A walk around the local area revealed the same story around the hedgerows.
How does your areas compare?
Looks like another Sloe Gin less year. Sigh!

A poor crop over here also. The elder is just the same. Very sad it is.

The Elder here is quite good. I wonder if they blosomed after the late frosts. I will keep an eye on this in spring. This a bonus as herself makes a mean Elderberry Wine/almost port!!

I managed to get enough from the blackthorn in the garden this year, so didn't need to go further afield. Reports vary as to bounty, though, some say good, some not. I'd hate to be sloe-less I even managed to take some over to the pub so the new tenants could make some, swapped for a pint

Managed to find enough to make a couple of bottles(hopefully). These were shelterd by Ash, so the frost couldnt get at them. Had to pick them a little early as the hoards of Red Wings have started to eat all available berrys. So not much room for error!!!!!
