rabbiting permission

Has anyone got a small rabbit warren on their land where i can try out a young ferret, Tubbercurry area.
dara

Hi Phil, there's a few good spots near charlestown I could show you. There's also a place near rhue on some land owned by the wifes cousin that's pickled with rabbits. I've never gone ferreting there but have shot rakes of them. So finding the warrens won't be a problem. Let me know and we could meet up.
phil

Cheers Dara.
Rhue might be better, is it opposite the graveyard??
dara

it's on the opposite side of the road to the graveyard but further towards the school and in a good way. Do you know the Rchardsons? They have land next to it. I'm doing nothing sunday morning if you're around.
phil

Yes,if its the same man he used to leave me stuff for the dogs.
Sunday dinnertime ish weather permitting sounds good.
dara

Sunday dinnertime-ish - weather permitting it is then.
Give me a call tomorrow and we'll firm it up.

I am already wondering what you might accept in exchange for a couple of rabbits ! Not mature bucks , tho' , as I find their flavour to be a bit strong .
phil

The main thing will be to give the ferret a bit of experience, but you never know we might be fortunate enough to get a couple, that would be a bonus.
dara

I'll bring me gun, save going home empty handed - you never know but you can't expect too much of a novice. Might be sensible to bring a good digging spade as well.
phil

I think the spade might be more useful than the gun.
Camile

I'll bring my slingshot too ! you never know !
shark

how did you get on with the rabbits.any luck
Camile

We ended up getting 2 rabbits altogether !

not a bad day out !
shark

how did you get on with the ferret phil.and camile, did you get any with your slingshot
phil

The ferrets worked well for young ones,if we had a dog that marked inhabited buries we wouldn't have wasted as much time netting holes with nothing in them.and we didn't need to do any digging.

very good.
Camile

Having never seen ferrets in action .. I was surprised how eager they were to go down the hole .. impressive.

and no luck with the slingshot though.. and we saw hips of them that we couldn't catch ..
phil

That walk out today has made my mind up to get another lurcher,a half decent dog could have picked up twenty plus rabbits very easily.
