pregnant ladies and lambing

I recently heard that pregnant women should not go anywhere near ewes when they are lambing . There is a very real risk of contracting something which can cause miss-carriage . Can anyone shed any light on this ?

I can't remember what it's called but I'm sure this is true - may have been discussed on RC forum recently.  I think it's not just during the actual lambing but possibly before as well.  Might be something to do with a particular worm or parasite.  It was on an episode of The Royal a few years ago was the first place I heard of it.  Not the most reliable of sources perhaps but they have to be reasonably medically accurate. Indeed this is true. Contagious abortion is a well known problem with cattle. I have not herd of this with sheep though but it is not worth the risk me thinks.
