plummers(terriers)does anybody keep them ,and as anybody used them , they look like top dogs for hunting,as anybody got pictures off them,or of them working.

I hunted a small pack of Plummers to mink and rat in England and brought some with me when i moved here,There was no real enthusiasm for them here, most people seem to want bull bred terriers for obvious reasons.so over the years i have not bothered to breed replacements all i have left now is my old stud dog who is too old now for any real work,but i am still toying with the idea of getting a couple of pups sent over from England.

Plummers are a hell of a dog. I had the early type, less blanket coat and quite narrow snipe muzles. They were before Brian got the standardised look he desired. At the time I required dogs that had the balls to work Fox, Rat, mustelids 7 days a week, not shy away when tired. They ticked all the boxs and a few more. They would crawl into the kennal at night, usualy with ice on there belly, and be up for the next days work bright n breezy. My stud dog was taking Rat at 7 months. The previous jacks were 12months old. Rats are a formidable quarry and dont lay down and die! He was a bad git most of times, the rest of the time just malice. His pups were superb. Very steady. They would stay on a fox underground and bay untill i dug down. No silly underground scraps. Absalute hellers on rat.
My requirements have changed and only hunt rat and fox when i need to.
If that were to change, plummers would be my choice of dog.
The over the gate site Phil put us on to, had a lot of Plummers on there. The red blanket coat ones.

I think the Plummer is a much better looking dog now, and still has the determination of the old stock.I don't think Plummer did the breed any favours by bringing more bull blood in to the mix,it split the PTA down the middle,if i do get another dog it would be off the PTA and not not from the new strain.

Herself loved phots of plummer Tykes. Didnt like the adults though!
I think Brian brought to much Bull blood to get early vigour. Self entering Tykes at 5-6 months. Must admit to not being my cup of tea. Like to let a dog live a little before serious work. But work they did.
I will have a word around to see if any one might be interested in a pup. But as you already know every one I have talked to about field sports here, generally want a kill everything underground dog!

Sounds like it's a dog like that that I need .. and if I understand well Diz you have some pups do you ?
We can't afford to pay much for a dog but would love one proper working one.

Just to clarify.
Phil wrote earlier that he is toying with bringing some plummer pups over from uk. I will ask around if there is any local interest, to cut cost, posible breeding program etc.
I dont have any pups. Sorry for any confusion.
However, Plummer terriers are good for pest controle.

what would you pay for one.

From reading the adverts for pups it varies from two to three hundred pound then there would be the cost of sending it over,it won't be cheap.
