Pigs love to dig

Ok for all those of you who are entertaining the thought of keeping pigs.
You'll be warned about and will have read of the need for fencing. Yes fencing is very important and should be sorted out before you take delivery of your pigs. However do not assume that because a large barn forms part of the boundary of your pig run that you can dispense with fencing along it. The barn foundations may be well below the level of the pig run and the barn may be built of enormous field stones that the mighty Fionn Mac Cumhaill carried there and laid himself but give your pig time and she will demolish it. She will dig up, pull out and move half way across the pig run boulders that 6 large men couldn't shift an inch. Take your eyes off that barn wall for a day and it will become a serious safety hazard. What was a perfect wall at 7am looks like a bombed, tottering building by teatime. You now must gather every able bodied person you know, contain pig in another part of the run, figure a way to move the boulders back into place, give up and find smaller boulders, mix cement to fix them into place, replace the founds and wall, put up a fence so the pig can't get back near it and pray hard all the time that the remains of the wall don't fall on you or your helpers. All this in the rain whilst listening to your Dad saying "I warned you".
Moral of the story - fence everywhere and remember that pigs love to dig.
