New to forum

Hello all, great to see a forum like this starting up.

"Blowin", can I say that as an Irish blow in to the West, originaly from the dreaded East coast, it will take me untill I am dead and buried and my great, great grandchildren married to a family who have been here since before the Famine, before we will be looked on as "locals", but the locals are generally friendly and very helpful and are generally delighted to see the old places being rescued from decay.

We have an old place with 3 acres and some vety old beech trees. We are trying to develop the fields into gardens and will be growing a lot of our own veg. but no livestock.

Looking forward to dropping in most days to see the new threads.

From some one born in the west, now in the south-west. Yes. In about 3 generations we will know your name as someone other than a foreigner Smile

Enjoy my home area. Read history, the local papers records are brillant and any local history book. It will help you a lot with the native customs and history.

If you go to church, are in the gaa or have young children, that will really help too.

Alas we do not go to church [ stsrted my education with the christian brothers and later catholic boarding school ] and you cannot make me be interested in the gaa. We have made friends with a very wide range of people with different backgrounds and interests. It is a great place to meet up with artistic, spiritual and eco people. I would advise anyone from the east to move over here....but not too many.
