Mushroom ?

Hello,

I was digging in the tunnel today and came across to me as some mushroom "spores" ...

it's some sort of whitish powder, and would be shaggy ink cap I believe because there was some growing there ..

my question is would there be any harm mixing it with the rest of the soil ? I think I've heard that mushroom compost is good ...

No harm if it is mycelium (?) from Ink Cap or indeed most other fungi . There is one , however , which is highly invasive and parasitic to the extent that it will kill its host . This is the Honey Fungus . You will find plenty of pics in the ref books and on the web but don't be too quick to panic if you have something similar because there are a few harmless look-alikes . Harmless to plants , that is , but not for human consumption !
You obviously haven't got an actual 'shroom to i/d at this stage but Honey Fungus invariably grows on wood . Inspect any old roots or dead branches in that area . If the white stuff is on the wood you should keep an eye on it , otherwise no cause for concern IMHO .
The main benefit of mushroom compost is that the growing medium ( traditionally ) contains well-rotted horse manure and an amount of lime . I don't know what they put in it these days !

Hello,

I believe I don't have to worry then because they are in the soil itself, not on wood ... and the only reasonable amount of mushroom growing there was ink cap.

so if I keep it in the ground, I will have some growing in the tunnel, I'll also try to move some outside again and see how it goes ...

Thanks,

I'll get planting in there then ....

Cool  Very Happy  . An unexpected bonus !
Just be sure that you have the Shaggy Ink Cap ( AKA Lawyer's Wig because it looks a bit like that , with the obvious curls ) .
There is another type which looks quite similar but has a smooth cap . You can eat that too but it will make you sick if you have any trace of alcohol in your blood !!
Good luck  Wink

You seem to know so much that I will let you test them first !  Very Happy

Good strategy  Wink  . It is generally best if the person who identifies the   fungi is also the first one to eat it . That tends to focus their attention to detail !  Laughing
