We had to do this with both of our girls. It used to be €80 but the schools are probably trying to raise a bit more cash.
This could lead to a discussion about "free education" in Ireland and how it costs a small fortune between books, supplies and "educational" trips.
The "educational trip" I objected to the most was when our youngest, then aged 16, told us she wanted to go on the end of term trip to Barcelona. There would be 40 students and 4 teachers going. I checked on line to see how much this might cost and found that the tour operators give one free place with every 10..... yes all the teachers went free.
When Zoe got home she told us the "educational tour" consisted of a trip to a water fun park, a trip to the Barcelona Football Stadium, shopping in Las Rambalas and sitting around the hotel swimming pool. She also told that the 4 teachers went out ever night and the more senior girls were left in charge..............
