Did she spin the fur by itself? Breed of dog?

Have no pattern to offer, just a couple of website suggestions in case she doesn't have them already
www.ravelry.com
http://www.createforum.com/knititgreen/index.php?mforum=knititgreen
www.knitty.com (a search of knitty throws up 240 hats, I'm sure she'll find something there).

Hi Mrs L , many thanks for that , and nice to see you back .
Please don't hesitate to mention your own forum , maybe say a bit about it under "useful links " . I don't mind telling other members that if you are who I think you are you are also a wealth of extremely useful info .
Pyrennean Mountain Dog , quite a large male . They have a double coat . The inner layer is almost like cotton wool until they shed it ( truer to say you have to drag it out ) at about 18 months . That made up most of the bulk , hence so soft . A friend spun it then MOH knitted it up .

That sounds lovely: I keep eyeing up our KC spaniel, but he doesn't seem that keen!
I have now mastered the spinning wheel, so have fleeces coming out of my ears and sheds at the moment. Almost complete my first real garment - a hat in Jacob fleece - so chuffed with that. Aiming for a whole jumper next. I have various bits of rare breed fleece I need to get done too. Almost back to the basics, but am trying to shoehorn a couple of small sheep into the garden............
BTW, yes, I am she................ Always happy to share advice and experience. Nice forum.
