growing auberginesDoes anyone have experience of these ? We have several strong specimens in the polytunel . About 3ft high , bushy , plenty of flowers on the plants and a few dropped on the ground but as far as I can see only one fruit has set .
Everything else in there seems to get pollinated by something but someone has told me that aubergines often fail. Is there some secret ?

Well , most of the flowers did drop but we eventually got 1/2 doz fruit from 9 plants . They were relatively small -- from apple to grapefruit size . A couple turned out ok in a stew but the rest were rather bitter . I suspect they didn't have time to ripen properly but I figured they had to be picked before the frost got to them . Pity because the plant itself is very attractive .
