Thanks for that Phil ...

they are amazing pictures ..

I knew you were right by saying that terriers were the best for rats .. but that really shows it .

Now you have comforted me even more to get a terrier .. be it for rat or fox ..

that's a loyal companion put to good use,

The small smooth coated red and white dogs are Plummer terriers, great all round workers but they were bred for ratting.

Imaging how much corn them buggers were eating?

with 700 being caught up they would eat dozens of kilos a day wouldn't they ?

that's mad ..

The way i read it. they killed 80 rats the day before the dogs turned up.
The dogs killed a lot of rats under the sheds that they couldn't get at so i would reckon its the best part of a thousand.
Camile

True  Shocked

but is it normal to have that many under them sheds ?

I would have thought that they would have poison bait everywhere .. or at least keep a few terriers themselves on hold all the time ..

because I wouldn't like buying any of this chap's eggs !
phil

Well its certainly not normal, but the number of rats will grow to the food supply available, and the sheds with the verandas on are a perfect cover, you would only ever see a fraction of the real number of rats
