do chillis get hotter as they ripen ?

Will a chilli be more fiery when it is small ( 1/2") than when it has grown to its full 2 or 3 inches in length ?
And if it is a red type , is it hotter when red or green ?

Just curious . I don't particularly like them or I'd try a few from the poly to find out for myself !  Wink  Laughing

The heat is suppose to originate from the white membrane in the chilli. I presumed they got hotter as they matured i dont know though. I have picked some habaneros yesterday havent got the balls to taste them yet.
