cost of a load of turf this year ?

Best guess as to what a load will cost this year ? ( Assume that the buyer would collect it from the bog so transport costs are excluded ) .
And what is your understanding of " a load " ?  A 6' x 8' high-sided trailer full ? ( That is just my guess but I think there is an accepted norm ?? )

Saw an add in the local shop. €360 at the side of the road "to be collected by buyer". Last year it was €380 delivered and I have heard from a cutter that a lot of people are now cutting and trying to sell loads, we are going to stick to logs this year, cleaner and less ash.

Yep , E360 - 400 seems to be the going rate per load .
Did we get anywhere on quantifying what a "load" actually is ?

The quote is also relevant to the other thread in this section -- about turf cutting ban .  I have reason to believe that the authorities are alert to the likelihood of unauthorised commercial supply and may be on the lookout for evidence of it .

8x6 farm trailer is the norm in this area.

It will be interesting to see how the "turf trade" pans out this season. There have been a few "mysterious" fires on the local bogs, a few days later the hopper machines move in to "harvest" the turf.

We are going to stick to timber this year.
