I have been thinking that a chat room would be of help to this forum. I will register to this one. It may even be useful once eircom gets broardband to the south east

Hi Wayland , I hadn't forgotten that suggestion . I wasn't too eager before because I didn't know what would be involved in maintaining the basic system . In fact it is very easy so I would be happy to try add-ons if anyone would like them . You would have to give me directions in words of one sylable tho'  .
And roi's comment has made me realise that I was assuming that because my own landline is so slow , no-one else would be able to participate in real-time chat , either . But of course they can .  I think .
And they would just have to type really slowly so rest of us can keep up .

It is not the time it takes to type the message. Its waiting ten minuits for Eircom to send it. We are now running at a heady 28 kps.
