changes Dec 2008This forum has a lot of readers but very few regular contributors .
If the silent ones amongst you don't ask the questions , however basic they may be , then no-one can respond .
And if you very modest and unassuming lot who have already learnt things the hard way don't volunteer a few simple tips to the newcomers then they may have an unneccessarily hard time too .
So , we need more people to post (say something ) or this forum will expire from lack of interest . That would be an almighty shame because a lot of useful networking and personal friendships have come from it .
To facilitate new users joining up , two-step validation has been removed ie the process is quicker for them .
Members who have already joined up can now go into their " Personal Profile" and change their username ( alias ) if they wish . So , if they have been known as (eg **username .. johnny **) until now but want to permanently change their i/d they can do so ( eg to **username ... Fanny , or whatever ) . Yeah , Johnny and Fanny Craddock ! Whatever .
The section headed " Non-Contentious Chat " has been made "public" .... that is to say that anyone can create or reply to a topic in there without loggin in --- so their post will be given "guest" i/d and cannot easily be traced back to johnny or fanny or anyone else .
That is how this forum was originally set up for ease of access but I had to increase the level of screening to cut out hackers and spammers and feckers of all shapes and sizes . Hopefully they won't get back in as soon as I implemet this change but pls accept apols from Admin if they do .
