CatsWe found a kitten, small and starved and brought it home. Not knowing a lot about kittens anatomy we willed it to be a girl and my husband said while he couldnt confirm it was female it didnt apperar to have any male parts. Good enough for us three ladies in the house, a new lady to join us and keep the men in a minority. So, we called the kitten Picasso and took it to the vet for vaccinations and to check it was OKAY. Vet was on holiday but the locum and vet nurse told us the kitten was about three months old and was female.
So, about three months later we decided to get "the job" done to Picasso as we didnt want loads of little kittens, so I made an appointment with the vet. Then as my husband was having a close look at he kitten he said the kitten was now looking much more male, definitly male bits. I told him he was stupid, that two professional has determined it as female.
Anyway, I left Picasso in the surgery and told the receptioist that we were no unsure about the gender but wanted the job done anyway.
That evening we called to collect Picasso and on the way out asked the vet was it male or female, his face dropped and he said I think there has been a terrible mistake, Ive operated as now its an "IT" not a boy or girl. He said it had been male, so I should him the vaccination record where is locum stated it was female and he fell around the place laughing. The poor locum is never going to live it down. But the vet did say that we were lucky wirth the name choice and wouldnt have to cahnge it

More or less the same thing happened to us when we got the rabbit first.
We thought it was 2 females (sexed them with the friend we bought them from), but they were very young so it's hard to tell.
Then a couple of months later, we sexed them again to find out it was a male and a female .. but would still be too young to be neutered.
A couple of months later, we had an unexpected litter .. and found out that the one we thought was a male was a proud mummy of four ! and vice versa !
Within 2 days of the birth of the first bunnies .. we separated the male, but a month later, a second litter of bunnies came again !
Now the male is neutered and lives with his wife, and 2 kids left (still to be sexed ! )
