Anti Coursing Protest - Clonmel Feb 4th

See
aran
icabs for more details.

Need YOUR support to end this so called 'sport'.

Tell as many people as possible.

If enough people interested in going perhaps a mini bus could be arranged?

Used to do a bit of shooting meself , years ago . Seems to me that if you are prepared to eat meat you should also be prepared to kill it yourself . Gave it up ( shooting - not meat ) because of the number of injured creatures which escape to suffer if not cleanly killed . Not the same as a free range chicken quickly despatched with compassion and thanks .
Coursing ? I guess the main argument in terms of anti-cruelty is that either the animal survives intact or it doesn't . Not such a bad way to go perhaps .
Hare coursing surely has to be a straightforward blood sport . Very basic &  addictive instinct for us hunter/killer primates . Barbaric , I would say , but then my livelihood and/or entertainment aren't dependent on it .
What about people-coursing ? Join the Armed Forces of any religion or political persuasion and be highly trained to go out and kill --  man , what an adrenaline rush that must be . Never did that meself on account of being a coward but ...................    right now I'd be more than happy to espionage any and everything to do with eircom hardware ( NOT employees I must add ) . Anyone want to join me on the way back from your much more significant protest ?
Sorry to sidetrack your thread .
Wish I had posted this anonomously !
Good luck
Good luck .

corseing with one dog (in my opinion is ok as theodds are inthehares faver) two or more dogs is not sport its slaugter as the hare has nextto no chance of escape. good dog men neveralwthe dog to make the kill they only catch and retrive thehare or rabbit itsthe handler who makes thekill . its the thugsmainly townies that are the problem .

Theres a coursing track just up the road from me,I have been a couple of times and never seen a hare mauled. The dogs are muzzled and the hare is given fair law, theres an escape route for the hare where the dogs cant follow. The hares are trained to run directly from the release pen to the escape route, if the hare  goes off track it gives the dogs more of a chance to catch up to them. if that was in the wild there would be no second chance, all the hares are checked over by the local vet and released back into the wild after the raceing is over with.
Personally i find it pointless, but would not want to see it banned.

Very interesting and balanced arguments from Keith and Phil .
I have to admit that my own preconcieved ideas may be way out of date --  40 or so yrs ago I'd be out with an organised hunt for pretty much whatever moved ( otters / hares ) and there was no question of that being for the pot or humane catch & release . Pure blood sport .
Seemingly a very different concept now . So why the protest ?

Perhaps it is just another coincidence that I was going to post a separate thread , nothing to do with this , along the lines that that "assume" makes an ass out of you and me .
As someone once said .
