Another Clare blowinHi - very pleased to find this forum.
I find contacts and sources of equipment etc particularly difficult compared with the UK because of the number of companies etc in Ireland that don't have websites.
We have 5 acres in East Clare up near the Galway border which we're trying to gain control of! About and acre is old orchard, 0.5 acres of willow plantation and the rest grassland in various states of roughness.

Hi Graney and welcome to the forum
That sounds like an interesting plot you have there . Is the willow for baskets or are you growing it for fuel ?

Thanks for the welcome Blowin.
The willow was planted for baskets and there are a number of living willow fences and other structures. We're just starting to do some weaving, but the growth was so ridiculous this year, most of the shoots are far too big for weaving. I don't think there's enough to make it suitable for fuel use, but I don't know too much about biomass fuels. Something more to learn about ... along with everything else!

Several of us have an interest in biomass fuel ( which is not to say that we know a lot about it ) . Don't hesitate to post even the most basic Q & A's .
You have also reminded me that a very experienced weaver was going to join the forum a while ago . I must send him the address . Anyway , he reckoned that there was particularly good money to be made from the old fashioned , cone-shaped eel traps ( can't remember the name , sorry ) . Good luck .
